Numeracy Recap

Kamusta bloggers, this blog I will be doing a recap of what we’ve been dong in numeracy.

  • What have we been doing?

This week we have been focusing on multiplication and division. We were given a slideshow and we could pick if we wanted to do Ace,Pro or Legend, i chose to do legend. Legend was filled with algebra,BEDMAS, and fractions after that we were given some math riddles.

  • Example

You can also try and answer this riddle and comment what your answer is!!

Did you know that BEDMAS stands for

B – Brackets

E – Exponents

D – Division

M – Multiplication

A – Addition

S – Subtraction

Bedmas is the order on how you do an equation like:

5+6 x 2 + 3 = ??

  • What was my favorite activity?

I really enjoyed doing algebra because there was a lot of different types there were multiplication, addition and more.

Numeracy – Proper, improper and mixed fractions

Kamusta bloggers, for this blog im going to explain what the meaning of proper fractions is and the difference of improper and mixed fractions. Fractions are a really cool topic to learn.

 

Some things I learned was how to convert improper fractions to proper fractions, and etc.

 

Proper fractions are when the numerator is smaller than the denominator. Some examples are 5/10 and 3/8 you can even simply/reduce proper fractions. You could even add,subtract,multiply, and divide proper fractions.

Improper fractions are when the numerator is larger than the denominator some exammples are 12/6 15/9. Some improper fractions can be made into mixed numbers.

Mixed numbers are when theres a whole number and a fraction. some examples are 2 8/10 etc.

If you guys need more examples to understand it more clearly here is a slideshow with some examples.

Literacy – Maps

Kamusta bloggers, for this blog I’m sharing a slideshow about maps. We had to read an article and answer some questions about it. It was mostly about maps, how they made it, and what techniques they used to come to New Zealand. It was really interesting because i learned more about the past about maps.

Wananga – Growth mindset vs Fixed mindset

Kamusta bloggers, for this blog we have been learning about growth mindsets. For this activity we had to identify which one is the fixed and growth mindset. It was a very fun activity to do and it helps us learn more about being positive to ourselves and to others.

Sport- DLO hockey
